WHAT IS SENIO AKTIV®?

SENIO AKTIV® concept – For mobility at an advanced age

Putting movement into sheltered housing and nursing care: "Based on an entirely scientific training concept, the mobility of senior citizens can be improved sustainably – even in nursing care", says Helga Wolf, Director at the Academy of Integrative Physiotherapy and Didactics (AfiPT). SENIO AKTIV comprises three variable and adaptable mobility concepts, developed specifically for nursing homes and senior citizens' centres.

SENIO AKTIV: It comprises three variable and adaptable mobility concepts, developed specifically for nursing homes and senior citizens' centres.

The aim is to provide age-appropriate training as a means of laying a foundation to keep older citizens vital and as healthy and independent as possible, even at an advanced age. It is important to emphasise that observations have shown an increase in capabilities among patients on care wards.

The concepts are tailor-made to suit the needs of the specific group of senior citizens; the clients are assigned to suitable groups based on their physical performance, thus producing a purposeful set of measures consisting of training plans and equipment facilities along with important motivational elements for each senior citizens' centre.

SENIO AKTIV was designed by a professional team that for a long time now has focused its efforts on providing suitable training for senior citizens: Helga Wolf, Director at the Academy of Integrative Physiotherapy and Didactics (AfiPT), who possesses teaching qualifications and long-standing experience in the implementation of mobility concepts for senior citizens.  Dr Slavko Rogan, Physiotherapist PTMsc, BPT, lecturer at the Bern University of Applied Sciences – Health Division, AfiPT employee in the field of research and development. Jan Sebelefsky, Head of Sales at FREI SWISS AG, qualified sport economist, medical product consultant with substantial experience in equipping care homes and senior citizens' centres.

THE MOBILITY CONCEPTS

EBM classification of the current physical performance according to Slavko Rogan.

Mobility concept I - for immobile senior citizens

Establishment of a training department, e.g. with stochastic whole-body vibration. The aims are: To improve strength, balance, bone density and cognitive faculties to provide effective prevention of falls and as a complementary incontinence prophylactic and to stimulate cell renewal.

The concept does not require a large space, and the device can also be set up in the corridor.

Mobility concept II - for untrained senior citizens

Construction of a mobility circuit with a variety of training stations to practice everyday situations. These include stations with balance and coordination exercises, also stations to prevent falls and to improve gait. Concentration exercises also feature. Does not require much space; the circuit can be set up in the corridor.

Mobility concept III - for trained senior citizens

Establishment of a mobility and training room with 325, 650 or 1000 sq. ft., depending on the facilities available. Here we offer medial training equipment for strength, stamina, coordination, balance, mobility and to prevent falls.
